What we were working with
The family cooked outside constantly on a rolling grill parked in the sun, with no counter space and no shade over the table.
What we built
We built a masonry kitchen island with real counter run and storage, covered the dining zone in cedar, and lit the space in two layers — task lighting at the cook surface, ambient over the table.
How it turned out
An outdoor kitchen that gets used year-round, including in July.

Materials & methods
- Masonry kitchen island with stone veneer
- Granite counter
- Cedar patio cover
- Concrete pavers
- Task and ambient lighting
