What we were working with
Large property, long approach, and no single place for the family to gather outdoors — plus defensible-space considerations close to the house.
What we built
We poured a proper drive apron, built a natural stone gathering patio with a masonry fire feature, and selected planting that respects defensible-space guidance in the zone nearest the structures.
How it turned out
A ranch that finally has a heart to it, built with fire clearance planned in from the start.
