- Arizona buff and Oklahoma sandstone are the local workhorses — warm tone, good density and they stay comfortable underfoot. Darker slates look striking but heat up in inland sun.
- Does flagstone need to be sealed?
- Not structurally. Sealing deepens the color and makes cleanup easier, but it is a maintenance commitment — most clients seal patios near dining areas and leave pathways natural.
- Can plants grow between the stones?
- Yes, and it is one of the best looks in a San Diego yard. Dymondia, creeping thyme and low sedums all work in sand-set joints with drip below.
