What San Diego hardscape projects usually include
Most hardscaping jobs we take on in San Diego fall into a few shapes: a rear patio and walkway package, a driveway and entry replacement, a terraced hillside with walls and steps, or a full backyard where all of it happens at once. Each one is priced off square footage, access and how much grade has to change.
Choosing between pavers, flagstone and concrete
Pavers flex with soil movement and can be lifted and reset. Flagstone gives natural, irregular character and hand-cut joints. Concrete is the most economical way to cover area and takes stamped, sawcut and colored finishes. On expansive clay we lean toward pavers; on tight coastal courtyards, stone and concrete often win on look.

- Everything structural and walkable: patios, driveways, walkways, steps, retaining and seat walls, masonry features and the grading and drainage that sit underneath all of it.
- How long does a hardscape project take?
- A single patio typically runs one to three weeks on site. A full backyard with walls, drainage, masonry and finish work usually runs four to ten weeks, depending on access and permitting.
- Do you subcontract the masonry and concrete?
- No. Design, hardscape, masonry, concrete, planting, irrigation and lighting are all handled by our own crews, which is why the detailing stays consistent across the whole project.
- What does hardscaping cost in San Diego?
- It depends far more on base, grade and access than on the surface material. As planning ranges, pavers commonly run $18–$34 per square foot installed, flagstone $26–$48, and concrete less than both. Our cost calculator gives a range on your actual square footage.
- Do you do hardscape design as well as installation?
- Yes. Hardscape design, material selection and construction all happen in-house, which is why the finished build matches the plan instead of drifting during construction.
