What we were working with
A beautiful Craftsman bungalow hidden behind an overgrown hedge, a cracked walk and porch columns that had been squared off during an earlier remodel.
What we built
We rebuilt the entry walk, restored the tapered column profile the style calls for, and opened the front yard with layered drought-tolerant planting instead of a wall of hedge. Path lights and two uplights on the porch finish it.
How it turned out
The house is visible from the street again, and the entry reads as the front door of a Craftsman rather than an afterthought.

Materials & methods
- Stamped and sealed concrete walk
- Stucco-over-frame tapered columns
- Drought-tolerant perennials
