What we were working with
The best part of the property was the canyon view, and the yard turned its back on it — plus the slope edge was slowly losing soil.
What we built
We placed a viewing deck right at the edge, stabilized the slope face with matting, boulders at the toe and deep-rooted native planting, and kept lighting shielded so it does not spill into the canyon.
How it turned out
The canyon became the focal point of the property instead of the boundary of it.

Materials & methods
- Hardwood viewing deck
- Native canyon plant palette
- Erosion control matting
- Boulder toe protection
- Shielded lighting
