What we were working with
A large lot that was mostly hill, with runoff crossing the pad every winter and no safe way to walk to the upper portion.
What we built
Two engineered tiers cut the slope into usable levels, masonry stairs connect them, and a drainage system intercepts water above the walls and carries it around the pad. The upper terrace became a shaded patio.
How it turned out
A hillside that turned into two levels of real yard, with the drainage problem solved rather than moved.
