What we were working with
A step down of nearly six inches between the living room and the patio broke the connection between inside and out, and the old surface drained back toward the slider.
What we built
We rebuilt the patio flush with the interior floor using a linear drain at the threshold, set large-format pavers, and added an outdoor shower off the side path for post-beach rinses.
How it turned out
The slider opens and the room simply continues outside, which is what everybody wants from a beach house.
