What we were working with
A large, level backyard that had been sitting as one flat expanse of lawn and nothing else since the house was built.
What we built
We broke it into zones — a paver deck off the house, a fire feature lounge, a shaded dining area and a turf lawn — separated by planting and grade rather than fencing, and lit each zone independently.

Four distinct places to be in a yard that used to be one.
