- Shared courtyard
What we were working with
A shared outdoor space with real daily traffic, no shade and planting that was never going to survive the use it was getting.
What we built
We built for durability first — concrete where feet go, cast-in-place benches that cannot walk off, shade trees placed for midday cover, and a plant palette that handles being brushed past a hundred times a day.
How it turned out
A courtyard that gets used constantly and still looks maintained.

Materials & methods
- Broom-finish concrete
- Cast-in-place bench seating
- Shade trees with root barriers
- Tough shrub palette
- Drip irrigation
