- Scope
- Both side yards
What we were working with
Every winter the side yard held water for days, the stucco was staining at the base of the wall, and the space was effectively storage.
What we built
We re-graded away from the foundation, installed a French drain with catch basins routed to the street, and set a paver path over the corrected grade. Shade planting went in along the fence line.
How it turned out
A dry side yard that is now a real route between the front and back of the house.

Materials & methods
- Perforated drain pipe and gravel
- Catch basins
- Concrete pavers
- Shade-tolerant planting
- Compacted base
