What we were working with
A thirsty lawn on a spray system, on a lot that gets full afternoon sun and a water bill to match.
What we built
The lawn came out, the spray heads were converted to drip, and the yard was replanted with a low-water palette anchored by a few well-placed boulders and a DG path to the porch.
How it turned out
A dramatic drop in irrigation demand and a front yard with year-round structure.

Materials & methods
- Stabilized decomposed granite
- Local boulders
- Drought-tolerant shrubs and grasses
- Bark and cobble mulch
- Drip conversion kit
